Welcome to our portfolio, Supporting Children and Families in Diverse Communities and Contemporary Society. This website is designed for early childhood educators to better understand the various contexts young children and families go through across Australia.
Each child develops in a distinct family, community, and social setting. Children's well-being, learning, relationships, and sense of belonging can be impacted by events including financial difficulty, family separation, cultural variety, mental health issues, trauma, family violence, and natural disasters . Children and families are not defined by these events, though. Early childhood educators can enhance children's resilience, engagement, and well-being through respectful relationships, inclusive practice, and appropriate assistance (Early Childhood Australia [ECA], 2016).
